The offshore Wave Farmer is the first of a new class of mussel farm boats designed to operate up to 60 nautical miles offshore.  Her hull form has been taken from the highly successfully asymmetric shape developed for use offshore.  The large deck area can carry up to 10 tonnes of mussels as well as all the equipment required to farm the shellfish from the laid lines.  Fitted with the Hamilton Jets Blue Arrow control system it offers excellent manoeuvrability and control, vital when operating close to the underwater lines. She is fitted with an auxiliary engine used to drive the hydraulic ring main which powers the grading, de-clumping, 3 davits and a Palfinger PK8501MA marine hydraulic knuckle boom crane with the capacity to place a 1 tonne load at the extremity of the working deck.
